New CNG powered trucks deployed in Mount Laurel, NJ
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. -- Republic Services, Inc. has announced the deployment of 67 CNG powered solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers throughout southern New Jersey and in Philadelphia.
Republic Services is an industry leader in U.S. non-hazardous solid waste and recycling. The company’s new CNG fleet will replace older diesel powered trucks, and represents a significant local investment in cleaner, safer and more efficient vehicles.
"One of the more lasting contributions we can make in our community is to protect the environment by reducing ozone-forming emissions wherever possible," said Michael Murphy, general manager of Republic Services. "Three out of every four trucks in our local fleet will be powered by natural gas by the end of this calendar year. These trucks run cleaner and quieter, and will help to make the local environment healthier for future generations."
Republic installed a natural gas fueling station to support its new fleet of CNG powered trucks in Mount Laurel. Natural gas fueling stations enable CNG trucks to fuel during non-peak hours, which has the added benefit of reduced energy consumption during the refueling process.
Republic operates a fleet of more than 1,400 CNG vehicles and 26 natural gas fueling stations nationwide. Approximately 50 percent of all Republic vehicles purchased in 2013 are powered by the domestic fuel source.
