Velaris acquires LNI SwissGas to strengthen position in analytical and industrial end markets
- The company joins the Velaris family of existing brands – Skalar Analytical, LCTech, PromoChrom, EST Analytical, GERSTEL, Trace Elemental Instruments and Markes – expanding Velaris’ product and service capabilities and global presence
Velaris, a platform of laboratory-automation brands backed by global investment firm Battery Ventures, has announced the acquisition of LNI Swissgas (LNI).
LNI is a multinational specialist in the design, production and marketing of premium gas generators, gas mixers and gas calibrators for analytical, industrial, environmental and laser applications. With production facilities in Torreglia, Italy; Versoix, Switzerland; and Shanghai, China, LNI’s products combine Swiss precision engineering with Italian ingenuity and design.
The company supplies premium hydrogen, nitrogen and zero air generators for on-site gas production, along with precision gas calibration systems and mixers. These technologies enable laboratories to reduce dependency on gas cylinders while maintaining high standards of accuracy, reliability and safety.
LNI’s fully in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, covering layout, electronics, electrochemical and pneumatic components, are considered unique within the industry and support continuous innovation and product control.
Joining Velaris’ existing portfolio of brands, LNI adds complementary expertise in gas supply infrastructure for analytical instrumentation, an essential component across the group’s laboratory and industrial markets. The acquisition is also expected to strengthen Velaris’ international footprint through LNI’s established distribution network and customer relationships across Europe, North America and Asia.
“Over more than three decades, LNI has built its reputation on precision, quality and an uncompromising focus on customer needs,” said Roberto Salemme, CEO of LNI. “Joining the Velaris family represents a natural evolution of this journey — providing access to a broader platform of complementary technologies, shared expertise and accelerated growth opportunities. We are excited to further strengthen our leadership in gas generation and calibration solutions, while continuing to deliver the innovation and reliability our customers expect, now supported by the scale and vision of Velaris.”
Felix Beyer, Chief Sales Officer at LNI, added: “The scale of the Velaris group acts as a massive catalyst for our global sales strategy. Tapping into this expansive network allows us to elevate our service capabilities worldwide and strengthen our position in key markets. Operating with the backing of this broader platform gives us the operational strength to expand our reach, while continuing to deliver the precision, data-driven solutions, and trusted partnerships our clients rely on to maintain their competitive edge.”
Amod Kher, CEO of Velaris, described the acquisition as a strategic expansion of the company’s laboratory automation platform.
“LNI is recognized worldwide as a leading specialist in premium gas generation and calibration technologies, and this acquisition is an excellent extension of Velaris’ market leadership in laboratory automation,” Kher said. “The company’s deep expertise, precision engineering and broad product portfolio make it a highly strategic addition to our group. Gas supply is a fundamental enabler for many of the analytical workflows that our brands support, and we look forward to working closely with the LNI team as we build on the exceptional foundation they have created and grow it further.”
Zack Smotherman, a Battery Ventures general partner and member of the Velaris board, said the acquisition reflects the company’s broader strategy of building an integrated analytical instrumentation group.
“As we approach three years since our initial investment in Skalar Analytical, we are pleased to see the business come together to form a cohesive group under the Velaris brand,” Smotherman said. “We are excited to add LNI to Velaris as we continue building a unified portfolio of complementary analytical instrumentation and laboratory infrastructure technologies. LNI’s expertise in premium gas generation and calibration is highly synergistic with our current portfolio of products, providing strong connections with customers across our environmental, life and energy segment offerings.”
Gas generators and calibration systems are produced in Torreglia, Italy; Versoix, Switzerland; and Shanghai, China, with a global distribution and service network supporting customers internationally.
