Inpex signs commercial gas contract for Abadi LNG with Indonesia state firms Pupuk Indonesia, PLN, PGN

Japanese gas explorer Inpex signed a commercial contract on Wednesday with Indonesian state firms Pupuk Indonesia, state utility firm PLN, and gas utility firm PGN to purchase gas from the Abadi LNG project.

Here are some details:

  • The deal was signed during the Indonesia Petroleum Association conference, but no details were provided on the volume of the gas sales signed on Wednesday.
  • The Abadi LNG project is expected to produce around 1.2 Bft3d of gas, and most have been allocated to domestic and overseas buyers, said upstream regulator SKK Migas chairman Djoko Siswanto.
  • "Masela (production capacity) is around 1.2 Bft3d in total. We still have 250 MMft3d spare, in case we need more later. But the others, 1 Bft3d are already being sold (to) domestic and international buyers," Siswanto said.
  • Siswanto said foreign buyers include Eni SpA and BP Trading, while Japanese buyers seek between 2 MMtpy and 2.5 MMtpy of gas.
