Japan's LNG imports fall 1.4% in 2025 to 64.98 million tons

Japan's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports fell 1.4% in 2025 from a year earlier to 64.98 million metric tons, trailing China's 68.43 million tons, preliminary trade data from the Ministry of Finance showed on Thursday.
China's LNG imports dropped to a three-year low in 2025, official data showed. Shipments of LNG to China declined 10.6% from 2024 to 68.43 million tons, according to the General Administration of Customs.
China remains the world's top importer of the super-chilled fuel, followed by Japan.
