Wärtsilä signs 15-yr service deal for three CLSICO LNG carriers

Wärtsilä has signed a 15-year lifecycle service agreement with China LNG Shipping (International) Co. Ltd. (CLSICO) to support three LNG carriers, using predictive maintenance and digital tools to boost reliability and cut costs.

The deal, effective since August 2025, focuses on enhancing vessel reliability, extending overhaul intervals, and optimizing maintenance costs.

“With the LNG ship transportation industry chain entering a period of rapid development, we are committed to operating our LNG ships safely, reliably and efficiently,” said Andrew Johnston, General Manager at CLSICO. “Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Agreements play an important role here, ensuring we continue to optimize the operations and maintenance of our vessels more effectively.”

The agreement incorporates Wärtsilä’s predictive maintenance system, Expert Insight, which uses engine data and dynamic maintenance planning to reduce downtime and provide 24/7 remote support. The system also identifies potential technical issues before they occur, helping operators cut unscheduled maintenance expenses.

“In today’s complex marine market, leveraging service agreements, digital tools and real-time data and analytics can maximize the lifecycle uptime and OPEX of a vessel – helping fleets to run optimally, stay competitive and comply with current and future decarbonization targets,” said Henrik Wilhelms, Director of Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä Marine.

The three LNG carriers covered under the deal — Al TUWAR, Al MAS’HABIYYAH, and FAT'H AL KHAIR — each measure around 300 meters (m) and have a capacity of 174,000 m3. They operate with Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines. The new agreement builds on a 2023 service deal covering CLSICO’s DAPENG PRINCESS, the world’s largest shallow-draft LNG carrier.
