EnviTec Biogas Italy builds 100% integrated biogas plant with EnviThan gas upgrading system
One of EnviTec’s first customers, agricultural entrepreneur Dr. Francesco Avogadri, recently signed the contract for the construction of a new biogas plant with EnviThan biogas upgrading for the production of 237 Nm³/hr of biomethane.
Avogadri has been relying on the expertise of EnviTec Biogas S.r.I. Italia since the construction of its first biogas plant in 2009. With this new contract, the Italian subsidiary of EnviTec Biogas AG has once again demonstrated its competence as the only fully integrated biogas plant manufacturer and service provider in the Italian market.
“Our complete range of services from consulting and planning to the construction and servicing of biogas and biogas upgrading plants gives us a truly unique selling point in Italy,” says Mario della Bella, Managing Director of the EnviTec branch in Verona.
Initial construction work is currently underway at the customer’s site, a pig farm near Cremona. The customer relies on local service providers. “Our EnviThan gas upgrading plant is being built and tested in Saerbeck Germany and is scheduled to go into operation in summer 2025,” explains Mario della Bella, Managing Director of EnviTec Biogas Italy.
Tailored to customer specifications, the plant is designed for feeding pig manure and catch crops. In addition to the substrate pretreatment, a fermenter and equipment for the digestate tank, EnviTec Biogas will also supply an oxygen generator for desulfurization as well as the entire EnviThan gas upgrading system with tried-and-tested, environmentally friendly membrane technology.
“Both the anaerobic digestion part and the biogas upgrading part are developed, manufactured and installed by EnviTec. We believe that having a single point of contact for the production of biogas and biomethane is crucial for the technical efficiency of the plant and therefore for the profitability of the investment,” says customer Francesco Avogadri, explaining why he has once again awarded the contract to EnviTec Biogas.
EnviTec Biogas S.r.I. now has a wealth of experience in Italy, with 46 realized plants and a total installed capacity of 40 MW – a rising trend. In the service sector, the company currently manages over 40 plants – including the biogas plant built for Azienda Avogadri in 2009.
Azienda Avogadri is one of the most prominent pig farming companies in the Lombard province of Cremona. In addition to pure pig breeding activities, Avogadri grows a large proportion of the feed for its pigs itself. In order to reduce environmentally harmful carbon emissions from the production cycle, the company is gradually transitioning from the use of fossil fuels to renewable energies.
