Linde to invest $2 B in Canada to supply hydrogen to Dow's Alberta chemical complex

Industrial gases firm Linde said it would invest more than $2 B to build a clean hydrogen facility for supplying to Dow's Path2Zero production complex in Alberta, Canada.

The facility would be the largest clean hydrogen production site in Canada upon completion in 2028 and would also supply to other customers along with Dow, the company said.

Linde had announced a $1.8-B investment in another clean hydrogen plant in the U.S. last year amid increasing interest in the clean burning fuel.

The Woking, UK-based company added it would also capture more than 2 MMtpy carbon dioxide emissions for sequestration.

The Dow facility includes a new ethylene cracker that is still under construction, which would help increase the chemical maker's polyethylene capacity by 2 MMtpy.
