Freeport LNG confirms explosion

(The Facts) - Residents have been told to evacuate the island of Quintana after an explosion at Freeport LNG's Texas facility, officials said, according to The Facts.

“We are in the process of monitoring the situation and will provide information accordingly,” Director of Corporate Communications for Freeport LNG Heather Browne said.

All Quintana residents are being evacuated, according to responding authorities. The evacuation order was issued about 11:40 a.m., shortly after the explosion.

The cause of the explosion is being determined, officials on the scene reported.

Multiple fire departments have responded to the incident and black smoke could be seen rising from the complex.
