Aruba refinery aims to sign deal with Houston's Eagle LNG
Aruba's state-owned refining company Refineria di Aruba (RdA) is seeking to sign an agreement next month for Houston-based Eagle LNG Partners to build a liquefied natural gas import terminal on the site of its refinery, the RdA director told Reuters.
The terminal would allow Eagle to supply natural gas to the island's power company, replacing high-sulfur fuel oil as the country's main generation fuel, Reynold Arends said in a recent interview at RdA's headquarters in the city of Saint Nicholas, in southeastern Aruba. Aruba has long been seeking new partners for the refinery, with a processing capacity of 235,000 barrels per day, and which has been largely idle since 2012.
Last year US Citgo Petroleum Corp, a unit of Venezuelan state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela, returned control of the facility to the island government after abandoning an ambitious $ 1.1 billion renovation program
