Poland says Russian gas supplies resume after break
WARSAW (Reuters) — Poland on Friday began accepting gas deliveries again from Russia via the Yamal pipeline which were halted two days earlier due to poor quality of gas, the Polish state-run gas transit company Gaz-System said in a statement.
Russia's Gazprom said earlier that a technical issue that caused poor quality gas to be delivered to Poland via the Yamal pipeline had been resolved.
"On June 23 at 0600 (local time) due to improvement in natural gas quality parameters Gas-System resumed receiving fuel to domestic transfer system," Gaz-System said on Friday.
Poland's state-run gas firm PGNiG said in a separate statement its clients were not affected by the break as Russian gas was temporarily replaced with gas from storage.
PGNiG also said it had resumed pumping gas to storage for the next winter season.
Poland consumes some 16 Bcm of gas a year and most of it comes from Russia as PGNiG has a long-term gas supply contract with Gazprom that runs until 2022.
