JGC awarded facilities contract at Algerian gas plant
YOKOHAMA, Japan – JGC Corporation has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, JGC Algeria, S.p.A., has been awarded the contract for "creation of inlet boosting separation and compression facilities of Hassi R’Mel" by Sonatrach to feed the gas processing plant located in the Hassi R’Mel gas field, Algeria.
The project consists of work to improve the capacity of the facilities at Hassi R’Mel that Sonatrach is operating in the region for the purpose of maintaining a production plateau.
In the project, JGC will be responsible for Engineering, Procurement and Construction together with test operation and performance testing of the complete booster unit set, which is scheduled to be completed in 38 months. The value of the lump-sum turn-key basis contract is approximately 120 billion yen.
In the almost 50 years since being awarded the contract for the Arzew Refinery Construction Project in 1969, JGC has executed several projects in Algeria for Sonatrach and Oil majors. In particular, since the 1970’s, these have included numerous projects in the Hassi R’Mel, the largest gas production area in Algeria.
“JGC considers that its success in obtaining this project is attributable to the high overall evaluation given to it on the basis of its proven high level of technical expertise demonstrated by its performance in a wide range of projects in Algeria,” the company said in a press release. “JGC will continue to develop its business activities energetically in that country where continued investments are expected for resource development projects.”
