Angola LNG export project commences recommissioning

The Angola LNG export project has started recommissioning, a spokesperson for the Chevron-led venture said.

The project stalled after a rupture on the flare line forced a shutdown in April 2014, according to a report from news agency Reuters.

Angola LNG had previously been expected to restart in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The $10-billion plant, which shipped its first cargo in June 2013, is a joint venture between Sonangol (22.8%), Chevron (36.4%), BP (13.6%), Eni (13.6%), and Total (13.6%).

The LNG plant, located in Soyo, is a single-train facility able to produce 5.2 MMtpy.

Angola LNG also has a dedicated fleet of seven vessels that carry the chilled gas.

Earlier reports said Angola LNG would operate at 75% of capacity by the first quarter of 2016.
