Louisiana’s Magnolia LNG advances FERC approval process
Liquefied Natural Gas announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Magnolia LNG (MLNG) has submitted further responses to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) relating to its LNG project in Louisiana.
These requests, a normal part of the process for applications filed under Sections 3 and 7 of the Natural Gas Act for LNG terminals, will allow FERC to complete and issue a draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), a critical stage in the project.
The company and its team of consultants have been advised they will shortly receive two further requests (which were expected) that will assist in the finalization of the FERC filing process and targeted Notice of Schedule in early 2015.
The company said it is confident the progress it is making at Magnolia will keep it on track to achieve financial close by mid-2015 and first LNG in 2018.
This announcement comes after last week’s news that MLNG has engaged leading global LNG contractor Kellogg Brown & Root LLC (a subsidiary of KBR) to form an integrated EPC joint venture with existing partner SKEC to undertake cost verification and other services towards delivering the project.
