GTT receives order for five ice-breaking LNGCs for Yamal Trade
GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz), a leader in the design of membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of LNG, has announced an order for five large Arctic liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs).
The five ships for Yamal Trade will be built by the Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
These five ARC 7 LNGCs are expected to be delivered between 2017 and 2019 and will be built using NO96-GW technology, which allows an optimized boil-off rate of LNG cargo.
Philippe Berterottière, chairman and CEO of GTT, commented, "The harsh Arctic conditions make transporting natural gas a huge challenge.
"GTT is very proud that membrane containment solutions were chosen for these new generation vessels.”
