First product at ENVIA Energy’s GTL plant
Velocys Plc successfully produced its first Fischer-Tropsch product at ENVIA Energy’s smaller-scale GTL plant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in early February. The products are fractionated onsite to produce premium wax, diesel and naphtha.
The fuels produced at the plant are expected to qualify under the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and generate tradeable credits in the form of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs). The operations team will now focus on ramping up production to full capacity and preparing for the performance test run of the plant.
Scanners improve pipeline integrity
After two years of successful pipeline inspection in the upstream sector, LaserStream LP is honing its applications for use in pipeline integrity management, using BEMIS scanners. These scanners can take millions of laser ID measurement points, and the data can be used to inspect for pitting, erosion, defects and mechanical wear. The scans also provide dimensional data, such as true ID and ovality. LaserStream recently executed its first pipeline integrity task. A pipeline specimen was scanned using a 12.25-in. BEMIS scanner. A critical pipeline section was removed from service, and dents were profiled. The left side of the scan shows a map of the internal diameter of the pipe, with length on the y-axis and circumference on the x-axis. The colors represent different radii. The right side shows the cross-section view, where a true circle is adjusted to measure the dent depth at its highest point.
EPC services for cryogenic unit
KP Engineering (KPE) has signed a contract for the design, procurement and installation of a 200-MMscfd cryogenic gas processing unit with compression for Targa Pipeline Mid-Continent WestTex LLC, a subsidiary of Targa Resources Corp. KPE will provide complete EPC services for the project, which includes the main processing unit, as well as the balance of plant items and associated infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed in 1Q 2018. The project is the latest in a succession of awards for KPE, which continues to expand its presence in the midstream sector. GP
