In the US, Henry Hub natural gas spot prices took a nosedive in October and November 2016, but then climbed above $3.50/MMBtu through the first three weeks of December as gas consumption skyrocketed 21% on the year in response to colder-than-normal weather. In late December, prices slid again as temperatures increased. Meanwhile, production of ethane/ethylene saw a marked leap of more than 5 MMbbl between September and October as US petrochemical exports continued to expand. GP
